Client Meeting Savvy: Pertinent Protocol for Pampering Potential Partners

  1. As a practice, do you ask potential clients out for breakfast, lunch or coffee to get to know them better?
  2. Do you jot down notes as you are speaking about their spouse, children, hobbies, upcoming travel? community networking?
  3. Do you start your relationship by asking clients how you can help THEM be successful, solve a problem, make a connection, find resources?
  4. Do you explore cross-promotional opportunities or likely business synergy for them?
  5. Mute your phone and listen with eye contact?
  6. Share information about yourself, your likes, hopes, frustrations, passions, plans?
  7. Do you bring them a pen or post-it note, something to help them remember you later?
  8. Do you always thank them for their time and let them know how much you appreciate the conversation?
  9. Do you follow up with a quick ‘thank you’ email and an article, white paper, blog resource, quote, newspaper or magazine article or email introduction to continue the relationship?

Make this a part of your meetings and watch your meetings and networking take on a new energy, purpose and momentum.
