But the rules on social media are aligned with the principles of SEO. These include smart use of keywords, creating relevant and engaging content, optimizing length of post and frequency. People love to engage in social media and you can use it to generate more reviews for your website. Remember that each social network caters to a different community with a distinct culture and online behavioral patterns. How you structure and craft your posts, including the frequency should be mindful of these differences. Social media also helps build bridges to your website through links and sharing features.

There have been some online marketers who say mobile responsiveness is not important because it slows down loading time. While there is some truth to this, these critics forget three very important factors. One, smart phone usage is expected to increase up to 2017 in the near term. Second, download speed can be improved through revisions in design. And third, Google demands it. Heading into the New Year and with your sights to the future, you must always make sure your website is accessible. Accessibility is not limited to gadgets but also browsers.

If you want to know how search engines are interacting with your site, you better make sure it is registered with Google Webmaster Tools. With this program, you will have detailed information on your website’s health, functionality and overall condition. You will know if Google is indeed crawling on your site and the number of pages that have been indexed.
